CAGED FRETBOARD
Simplify the guitar fretboard with the CAGED system. Visualize chord
patterns, scales, and how they link together on the entire neck using the

Demystify the theory of the fretboard in an accessible, visual way.

From the Beatles to Miles Davis, from Zeppelin to Appalachian folk, the
modes are everywhere. Learn these 7 scales that all share the same notes
from the major scale. Open your understanding of harmony and break from
your normal patterns. Create bluesy to Spanish to Middle Eastern sounds
and learn interesting chords and progressions.

DJANGO GYPSY GUITAR
Find out to how to pull off Django’s famous phrases and tunes such as Minor
Swing, Dark Eyes and Sweet Georgia Brown. Your new hot licks will be
complemented by learning how to play that elusive right hand technique and
those great Gypsy swing chords. Please know barre chords.

COMPOSITIONAL TECHNIQUES
Learn simple tools to write musical compositions on the guitar. Use basic,
accessible theory to create a sketch and then add personal touches to make
it your own. Every student will write a new composition each class! For guitar
players with a Guitar 2 skill level.

GUITAR 2-A
Review the basic chords and strums while introducing hammer-ons, easy
scales, alternating bass, arpeggios, melody exercises, and tablature.

GUITAR 3-B
Focus on any number of skills including arranging, performing, theory, swing
chords, jamming skills, lead playing, or fingerstyle work. Take this class
multiple times. The repertoire changes every time.

GUITAR 4
Now that you've completed Guitar 1-3 you are ready to start playing as an
ensemble and focus on singing and musicianship. Work on harmonies,
arrangements, solo breaks and performing together. Students can bring in
songs to be picked by the group to perform. Bass players and other
instruments welcome. Students can repeat this class endlessly; the material
always changes.

When the light bulb goes on!

Many times over my musical life...I have reached plateaus in my playing and felt like I would never be able to play anything NEW or different. Then suddenly, with a flash of understanding, the fretboard opens itself up to me in a big way and I learn a bunch of new vocabulary to express myself with.
That is really how I see it too...Vocabulary. Scales and Chords and Arpeggios are Vocabulary and Grammar and such....if you want to express yourself you need to know MUCH. Remember when you went home… Continue

Theory and Techniques for Songwriting Mon 7PM
Easily learn the basics of music theory and how it directly relates to
songwriting. Examine scales, chords, extensions, rhythm, and melody. Start
with basic exercises and move into full on song composition. Learn tricks of

Izabella is HOME!

Back in '85 I went to this guitar shop in the northern suburbs of denver. On the wall was MY guitar...I felt it pulling me towards it...I just couldn't take my damn eyes off of it.
Being a young cat...16yrs old...I really had no duckets for this guitar...I mean $310!!! c'mon!
I put it on Layaway! and went in and paid on it whenever I could...taking Polaroid pics of me and my baby to keep me going! In fact...MOM has a picture of me and Izabella on her fridge to this DAY!

I think I have it figured out. MOre to come this week. I notice that the primary input Apple suggests for Garage Band, the one they sell on the Apple site ..... is the one you and I own. Hmmm.
