Rodolfo Betancourt is a versatile performing guitarist, recording artist, composer, writer and educator. A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Rodolfo is classically trained, but his range encompasses rock, jazz, Latin jazz, blues, salsa and avant-garde. His performance is as captivating solo as it is when he plays with others.

He has performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Music Director Laureate Marin Alsop, including the premiere recording of Michael Daugherty's Philadelphia Stories. Other CSO engagements included the popular Too Hot to Handel, the Summer Chamber Series, and the Bravo! Vail Music Festival.

In addition to his career as a classic guitar soloist, Rodolfo continues to perform with several musical projects, such as his own trio with Venezuelan Bassist Jorge Lopez and Guinean Percussionist Fara Tolno, and the Experimental Playground Ensemble among others.

The Betancourt Trio

The Betancourt Trio has been characterized as a mix of "Afro-Latin-Jazz-Fusion-Avant-Garde-Salsa-Folk rhythms from West Africa to the Caribbean." Indeed, you'd need to travel 6,000 miles to both sides of the Atlantic to hear something like the Betancourt Trio. Building from these extended musical roots, these three virtuosi from Venezuela and Guinea mix it all up to create exciting, unusual and out-of-the-box textures and rhythms from familiar sounds.

Help us reach our goal of doubling the pledge for the 2009 Walk Now for Autism Denver!

Autism Spectrum Disorder is truly a puzzle. Over time, the pieces will all come together, but only when everyone offers their piece to help complete the picture. All children have special needs. In the case of Aden, his needs are related to Autism, and our goal as parents is to give him the tools to understand and navigate the gifts, and the deficits, that Autism presents. Our goal as members of society is to also particpate in the community that advocates for children and getting parents the to… Continue
